As a preliminary step in California State University Monterey Bay’s data warehousing effort, the campus CIO requested the development of a complete enterprise data model. Having taken Steve Hoberman’s data modeling classes through TDWI, I knew him to be an expert in this field and contacted him for advice on this undertaking.  I was fortunate that Steve was available to assist the campus with this huge task, and the result has provided the basis for our ongoing warehousing efforts. Below are some of our perceptions of the value of our experience with Steve Hoberman: Steve Hoberman is an expert in Data Modeling and Warehousing.  The return on our investment for Steve Hoberman’s time was invaluable. During his brief stay at CSUMB, Steve was able to clarify the value of data warehousing to many functional data owners and potential project sponsors across campus.  His knowledge transfer to campus staff truly paved the way for our data warehousing efforts. Everyone involved in CSUMB’s 3-day enterprise modeling session gained insight and understanding into the tasks we face as a campus, bringing together our many data silos into a coherent and integrated knowledge base. Steve Hoberman is thorough and expedient. The amount of work Steve did in preparation for and during our session was nothing short of amazing.  He managed our expectations, helped us scope several valuable objectives for our session, and delivered a very insightful campus enterprise data model upon which to develop our warehouse and demonstrate our needs to campus executive administration. Steve Hoberman has exceptional communication and people skills.  He is a talented speaker and trainer, and displayed extreme professionalism under the pressure of some of our campus’ most challenging technical experts. Steve demonstrated the ability to lead staff from many different areas of expertise in a joint effort and achieve quality work in a very short time. Steve gained the respect and appreciation of all involved and provided a basis for collaboration that continues to benefit our warehousing efforts to this day.  We continue to draw upon lessons learned from Steve through each stage of our warehousing efforts, and he remains a valuable resource for advice and information to the campus.
